Design by Destruction

Using entropy to design destruction that adapts to urban needs and changes. The goal is to first revitalize dead urban pockets then respond to the shift of program. I applied this framework to create a new system of urbanization for my hometown, Cleveland, OH in order to embrace the destruction that is a part of rust belt history and enhance its re-emerging spaces. By designing from destruction and with destruction, a cycle emerges that enhances context and the unique needs of a rapidly developing society.
